Diigo as a research tool!

Teachers in our building have decided to use http://www.diigo.com this year as a social bookmarking tool and a research tool. Students are bookmarking the sites that they are using to do research projects. They are using the highlighting tool to highlight important information that answers their research questions. We have also had them join groups and share their best resources with their classmates. Students and teachers are finding diigo to be a very useful tool!

Digital Storytelling

Digital Storytelling is an important skill for students. In Tech. Tools class the students saved images from the internet (they used the advanced Google Search and found images that were able to be modified!) They put the images and title slides in order and told a story. They learned how to record their voice and save their final version as a .wmv file.

These are some good examples of voicethreads from my 8th grade Careers Class. For elementary teachers, one could just apply for a voicethread pro account (free to elementary teachers). High School and Middle School teachers would probably want to pay for a class account so that their students could upload themselves, yet the teacher would still have some control. I'm delving into the world of blogging. I've always read blogs, but this is my first attempt at writing one. Hopefully I will be able to add Technology Tips and ways to integrate technology that have been helpful to me.

I think that blogs can be used in the classroom to communicate to parents, post homework, ask questions, etc. It seems much easier than a webpage!
